On the topic of WLAN or wired connections, almost everything has already been said here multiple times. Susceptibility to interference, lower bandwidth, etc., a good WLAN connection depends on so many factors.

I really like 2N, but it either runs into visualizations or its own displays. If you want to use Alexa etc., you are left with only cloud toys, and in this field, Doorbird is not bad. And your "not so extremely connected to a cloud" does not exist. Either cloud or none. The fact that the camera also stores the images locally has no significance. If your Alexa shows an image, the images logically pass through numerous servers until they arrive there. You know that the Alexas do not automatically display the door image with eufy when it rings, right?

eufy is allegedly also compatible with Amazon

I don't like 2N that much because of the weird licensing system and that you have to pay monthly for mobile notifications / or images when it rings (yes, Ring has that too but it is not mandatory)

Question about Doorbird: do you know how long it takes until the image is displayed?
Does the standard doorbell still work with Doorbird? Or do you have to use the one from Doorbird? And does the doorbell still work without internet?

Doorbird definitely offers a free cloud where you always get the image on your phone

We will try the eufy Security Video Doorbell Dual Camera. Does anyone know if you can simply install it on the concrete pillar in front of the driveway or are there data protection regulations since it would record when there is movement?

A (surveillance) camera must "not even give the impression" of monitoring private or public properties. But: Where there is no plaintiff ...

In the end, you are the plaintiff, because as the owner you will want to use the video recordings as evidence (for burglary or whatever), otherwise I wouldn’t need any recording, etc. If the recording now shows more than it is allowed to, the evidence can be discarded as inadmissible and the camera/recording won’t have brought you anything at all.

I meant more the other way around if someone has an objection to the installation of the camera and therefore drags you to court. But you are of course right the other way around ... except that you might know who the burglar was and the court might still do a balancing of interests (this often happens with unlawfully used dashcams that recorded serious accidents and the footage was ultimately still allowed to be used).
