I just wonder what you actually do with all the time gained from this optimization. I would miss the simple act itself. Turning on, waiting, checking sometimes... also with other devices. It actually bothers me when the blind goes down because it was set that way, as I feel differently every day. Today the light bothers me, tomorrow it’s not enough. Too much automation I find rather restrictive or even patronizing. I wouldn’t see why I should replace cleverly positioned light switches. I partly see this as an obsession with optimization and find the description by of the "first phase" quite fitting.

I like my Wi-Fi washing machine. I can start it from work, it draws its detergent from cartridges independently. I just must not forget to put clothes in. However, I wouldn't have bought the machine currently just because of this Wi-Fi function. It's a nice toy. I find the refrigerators interesting. But since I have a built-in refrigerator, I have not yet dealt with the actual benefits.

As little as possible, but as much as necessary. But we actually only have the TV on the LAN, everything else is wireless. That's why I'm not in favor of network sockets in every room.

Since WLAN can connect nearly unlimited devices, the question is not important either. You just need good coverage in the house, and that works quite well with mesh and Co.

You give me the feeling that my life might still have some meaning without all that.......oops...I think the washing machine is just arguing with the fridge. I'll offer them some in-house mediation.

What I also forgot is landline telephony, if it is even still used. Either an IP phone is connected to the network or an IP DECT box if the router cannot handle it.

So for us, everything that can’t move on its own or can only be moved with a lot of force is connected via the LAN cable.

The rest is on WLAN.

Has a robot vacuum already been mentioned?
For me, countless Shellys are still connected to the WLAN.
