An interesting project! Would you like to tell us more about yourselves? How many children do you have?
I am also not a fan of huge rooms or even open-plan spaces; I don’t like that. We also live rather small. Although in an old building. But if we had built new, we would have built small as well and without floor-to-ceiling windows, except maybe a patio door. Introducing yourselves openly and early to the neighbors is always a good idea and worked really well for us too.
We have a daughter together. She will be 9 on Friday and is autistic. Because she is afraid to be on a different floor than us, the above-mentioned children’s room will be her daytime children’s room… that way she is close to us whether we are in the kitchen or in the living room. Therefore, the door there will also have a glass panel. The guest room will also become my hobby room (crafting/sewing) and my older daughter can sleep there with her boyfriend when they visit from Switzerland. Looking ahead, we planned the house so that if circumstances require it, we could eventually live exclusively upstairs. In an emergency, with an external platform lift.
How are you doing the outdoor area?
The carport roof will be extensively greened and there will be a bench and a large piece of deadwood there.. If possible, there should be a seamless transition to the ground. The fall protection should transition into a picket fence made of sweet chestnut. Climbing nasturtiums and sweet peas will cover it. Except for the terrace (pebble stones with a cobblestone border), a flower meadow is planned (no lawn!). We are also trying to accommodate an apple tree and a rowan tree. The stairs should be made of block steps with broken edges (but concrete) and the driveway as well as the path to the stairs will get antiqued concrete paving in shell limestone shades. Behind the heat pump, the slope will be secured with large graywacke blocks (don’t know what they’re called). I’m now searching again for pictures of your house, Haydee. I’m still having trouble with the search function.
