For the house with slab and basement, we have a fixed price. The slope/pressing water etc. is taken into account. We have not finalized the carport yet. Waiting for the final price. Earthworks are separate. Once the hole is there, and we know what it actually cost, I will hopefully be a bit calmer.

Do you already know your future neighbors?
Building gaps and living in the village is a special combination but also holds a lot of positive potential. Just imagine, if you haven’t done so yet.
Can be very helpful during (and of course also after) the construction phase. With a small plot, you sometimes have to store things outside and it leads to obstructions. If you get along well with the neighbors, they’ll also keep an extra eye on the construction site...
For example, we already showed up at village festivals after buying the plot and our neighbor knew the plans before we submitted the preliminary building request and later the building application.

Something can still come up, building will be more expensive than planned, but the big question marks are the earthworks and the shoring.

Even with large plots, not everything fits on them. We have 400 sqm of steep slope and not a single 90-degree angle. The plot was bursting at the seams despite over 1200 sqm.

Yes, that's how we did it too. We were already at the harvest festival, went to a neighbor's family for coffee with the plans, had various conversations on the street. Only one neighboring house, where we don’t know anyone yet.
We wanted it that way. A new development area wouldn't be anything for us.

Yes.. the earthworks are really incredible but there is also a lot of earth that has to be removed.

That sounds exciting. Can I find pictures of it somewhere?
