Hello, thanks for the many responses. As I can see, there are many different opinions here as well. The plan with the house is still very vague, as I said, I currently live in a rented apartment. The first child is on the way, there is still room here, but when the second one comes (at least that’s the plan for now), it will get tight. We are thinking of a prefabricated house with about 140 sqm plus a basement.

In terms of location, the plot that is currently still agricultural land would be the nicest, but the zoning, the sewer, etc. still have to be arranged. I currently have no overview of what all still needs to be done there. Another consideration would be to tear down the grandmother’s old house and put something there. I would have to find out what such a demolition costs, it will probably be quite a lot.

, I don’t think the area is enough for that.

You have a relaxed position with some options. If the real estate is not an emotional matter for you, you can consider whether holding the property yields more interest than a loan with lower equity costs. When building, you don’t have to reach the financing limits and can keep an eye on liquidity.

Never forget. Land is not reproducible, and therefore comparable to gold. It can only become more valuable with a growing population. Remember, currencies are artificial constructs and can become worthless, land is always valuable. The Reichsmark is just printed paper now, but the field is still real. That is why people say here, beauty fades, the hectare remains. This should also be considered when choosing a spouse.

Hardly anyone would have anything against that. But then you look on Immoscout now, for example, there is currently a plot of land in Erding with 333sqm for 878k (including additional costs). Even as a high earner, you only have the choice between moving far away from home or taking the parents' plot.

Hello everyone,
just as an example.

The last building plot in our village is in our hands and is used as a garden and additional parking space, ~ 600sqm.
Almost 10 years ago, we received an offer of 30,000€, deep in the east as you know. This year it was already 50,000€ ;)

The same applies to us, land is kept unless you are in need.
And with today’s interest rates, I wouldn’t even consider it. Especially when you have 2 children, building land doesn’t multiply as quickly as demand explodes.
