For me, the VAT was also monthly in the first year (2020), quarterly in the second year (2021), and then yearly for this year. Once you know how it works, it is very simple. For personal consumption, you simply apply 20 cents per kWh for taxation, and for feeding in, you have your monthly advance payment from the energy supplier. So, in principle, there are only 2 values each time.
We have always had our income tax return from previous years done by the income tax assistance association (cost: €195 per year). Unfortunately, we are no longer allowed to do that now. I then inquired at several tax offices and was always quoted costs between €450 and €500. Therefore, I only submitted the VAT for the photovoltaic system and have not filed the income tax return for the last two years at all. It was once discussed that the regulation should be changed so that the income tax assistance association can also prepare the tax return in case of private use of the photovoltaic system. I don’t know what came of that. Otherwise, I will have to do the income tax return myself sometime. Even if, out of ignorance, I don’t claim everything I theoretically could for tax purposes, I don’t believe a tax office would get me €500 more out of it.
