It is very well explained at the Finanzamt Bayern. Just google "photovoltaik finanzamt bayern erläuterungen". Among the first handful of results, there are many great documents from Bavaria, including filling aids (with information on what must be entered in which field).

Monthly has long been over. Meanwhile quarterly. In Bavaria standard since (I believe 2021), in NRW standard with less than €7,500 VAT per year, in Hesse generally quarterly. Other federal states similar. So now it's only 4x per year with the three clicks.
