Yes, I understand that. But still, the 20K € is for now the money that has been estimated for the electrical installation and is available. Everything else comes on top. Even if I don’t need an audio/video door station and camera surveillance, I wonder if I should rather say goodbye to the nice idea right away... I am certainly curious about the first offers from the electrician!

One more question: how often did the parameterization have to be adjusted over the years? Or do you do everything yourselves? I would try to get into it as well, but I also don’t want to spend every weekend setting up new lamp groups... ;-)

Everyone has to decide for themselves. But for ME, the additional costs and the additional benefits of such systems are not proportional. At least in private house construction.

That entirely depends on you. Or rather, on your needs. The range goes from never to weekly/daily.

The more often you want to change something, the more often you have to get involved, but it can also be set up once and never touched again. You can see it as the modern model railway. You can play with it as it is or constantly work on it.

The big advantage is that you can change something at all and then do it relatively quickly and easily without dirt and dust. Try teaching a normal light switch 2-3 different light groups (scenes) over time. That won’t work. There’s only one cable attached.

Ok, thanks!
So I could have the existing FritzBox, for example, in the utility room and then run a LAN cable from there to the respective access points on each floor, right?
Or I place the FritzBox with telephone centrally at the ground floor entrance and then only need the connection to the other access point ON the upper floor?

As a blonde simple user, that might suit me, just adding a suitable access point to the FritzBox; I wouldn’t know what my system would need to be able to do more than the current one, which is the FritzBox; ease of use is more important to me now than before, tinkering around doesn’t give me any fun anymore, it just has to work simply and reliably, squeezing out the last 10% is not necessary for me.
Which model of access point from AVM or another brand would be suitable for that?

Correct. :)

That works too, but generally I find it more practical to bring all cables together in one central location. In your case, that would mean you’d have to run DSL (?) into the hallway, network from the hallway back to the utility room and also from the utility room to the hallway on the upper floor, so that the access point there is connected as well.

Should the FB also handle telephony via DECT? Or would it be connected to the telephone classically via cable? In the latter case, additional cables (from the utility room to the hallway) will be necessary if the FB is positioned in the utility room.

That depends a bit on the requirements. ;) Basically, nowadays I would take a device with 802.11ax directly, which leaves only the Repeater 6000. Only the smallest Repeater 600 is excluded because it is really just a repeater and cannot be used as a wired access point. Otherwise, you have free choice.

At this stage, we were also at the same point, with the result being standard electrical installation without KNX. BUT, all switches and sockets connected directly from the distribution board with 5-core cable, window and door contacts installed. According to our electrician, upgradable to smart home at any time, as money or desire allows.
