60K € is a lot of money. You have read my list of what we implemented for this money. Keep in mind that some of it has nothing to do with KNX.
At the time, our architect also estimated 20K € for a classic electrical installation. However, since she (we hold her in esteem, seriously) has no clue about modern electricity, I claim that was very optimistic. With these 20K €, we would never have been able to implement our current network installation, the audio/video door station, the camera surveillance. She also hadn’t considered any “gimmicks” like central light and roller shutter/venetian blind control or motion detectors for the outdoor area.
If you want to consider all that, 20K € is completely unrealistic.
So I can’t say we paid 60K € for KNX. Rather, we paid 60K € for an upscale electrical installation including KNX.
Yes, I understand that. But still, the 20K € is for now the money that has been estimated for the electrical installation and is available. Everything else comes on top. Even if I don’t need an audio/video door station and camera surveillance, I wonder if I should rather say goodbye to the nice idea right away... I am certainly curious about the first offers from the electrician!
One more question: how often did the parameterization have to be adjusted over the years? Or do you do everything yourselves? I would try to get into it as well, but I also don’t want to spend every weekend setting up new lamp groups... ;-)
