They can also be a design element.

One should also consider where to have recessed lights and where to have surface-mounted spotlights. With surface-mounted spotlights, you can usually also shine at an angle onto walls/onto a picture, etc.

This is also possible with recessed spotlights, e.g. adjustable light bulbs or asymmetric lenses, of course not everything is standard. However, the plan looks like a high-end setup, so the lighting can possibly be planned a bit more individually. I find, for example, the spots directed straight down directly above the children's beds quite unpleasant. But if the spots are dimmable and partly illuminate the walls, you can also achieve a basic brightness without glare. If it is also supposed to look nice, however, it should not be the only lighting in the rooms.
