The access point does not have to be expensive, as long as it does not come from an expensive manufacturer. Ubiquiti has significantly raised prices, AVM has always been expensive. TP-Link, for example, is likely to be much cheaper. The problem is that you cannot seamlessly integrate them into an existing AVM infrastructure. It works, but you don’t get anything from the rudimentary management.

I wouldn't say my access point including POE adapter for 80€ was expensive. I also wouldn’t have a problem with the better model at twice the price. AVM is not far off in terms of price either.

I also just installed an AVM Repeater 3000 at a friend's place. It works too, but the setup drove me crazy. I’m probably overcomplicating things. There are many ways to reach the goal.

I hadn't really thought about sockets behind furniture, but rather about sockets for cabinet lighting, charging station for toothbrush/battery vacuum, etc. INSIDE the cabinet and so on...

I understand that! The children's rooms are probably overplanned! On the other hand, those are exactly the rooms that will constantly change in the coming years.

Very good question! I am not yet sure if I can/want to afford KNX. That naturally significantly influences the switch question!
