And it only costs 1/3. What additional functions does the access point have? As far as I know, the repeater does not do that, but I am not an expert.

They already were in the past. ;) At least some of them. Then please do us a favor and listen to the experts. ;) Actually, every repeater first works as an access point in this sense. The difference is how the so-called backhaul is realized, combined with possible aids in management. But it remains the same: a "real" repeater (backhaul via Wi-Fi) is a crutch and has no place at all in new constructions, even if the manufacturer keeps insisting that the bandwidth is not shared. That has something to do with physics. ;)

A Fritz Repeater (the models with a LAN port) can work exactly the same as an access point. For me, these devices have the big disadvantage that they do not support POE. Except for the 3000 and 6000 models, I am even directly dependent on a power outlet. The other two can be placed more flexibly. Additionally, AVM does not offer outdoor access points.

The advantage, of course, is that even non-experts can manage the installation relatively easily and it "somehow" works. However, I prefer the somewhat more demanding but also more powerful variant, which usually can no longer be implemented with AVM products.

I am. I just want to understand why I should pay three times as much for an access point, and whether that offers me any advantage. So far, I don't see any.

That is a good statement for me to decide that it is unimportant for me. We are now planning outlets next to the LAN sockets; we had already planned that. We do not need outdoor because the Wi-Fi from the living room will reach the terrace, and we have a covered spot at the back for that.
