Hello Hendrik,
I have just built and also decided on KNX.
Below is a cost breakdown of our entire electrical installation, maybe it helps you (Federal state: Lower Saxony, approx. 170 sqm) to get a rough idea, although in the end it really always depends on individual needs.
KNX:
- Planning: €775 (by system integrator)
- Construction of control cabinet: €2,600 (by system integrator)
- Material for control cabinet: €3,500 (terminals, actuators, etc.)
- Programming: €1,800 (by SI, certainly not impossible to do yourself and especially recommended, but in our case we simply lacked the time to thoroughly deal with it)
- Sensors (7 switches, weather station, 14 reed contacts, 8 presence detectors, 2 motion detectors): €2,400
Cabling & meter cabinet:
- Cabling of LAN/Duplex LAN (total 22 LAN ports in the house), SAT (6 locations), sockets (approx. 90 units), connection points (approx. 35 locations), smoke detectors (7 units) and of course BUS cables to all possible locations (with plenty of reserve) as well as all other cables that belong somewhere (e.g. audio cabling) + cable material + installing boxes + meter cabinet: €23,000 (by electrician)
- Material for the "visible" installation (sockets, smoke detectors etc.) we procured ourselves: €1,100
- Connection of all boxes, connection points, etc. as DIY
That was about €35k initially. Then things like door station (doorbell with video), access points, 19-inch rack with the corresponding components, satellite dish, all lighting and other things came on top, so in the end we were surely just under €40k for the complete electrical installation. And by that I mean completely.
As mentioned, a lot can certainly be saved here and there, maybe I also forgot a few things included in the prices, but that’s roughly what I can report from our build regarding KNX for now.
