Recently, a city councilor here locally had a (in my opinion great) idea:
Typical strategic mistake. The city councilor has firmly linked his intention to the idea of apartment swapping in the village. So - grandmas out of their hard-earned houses. End of discussion.
What would really make sense is building suitable housing in the village as well. A small new development area with 75% single-family houses/semi-detached houses and also multi-family houses with apartments for the elderly and the appropriate share of social binding. If there is corresponding interest, families (grandpa out, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in) can make use of it; but other models would also be possible.
As I already wrote - create offers so that demand decreases and normality returns in the existing stock. Only many politicians will not want that at all, because they themselves own real estate in the village/in the city - so there might be a small conflict of interest.
