Yes, but I am no longer sure whether I am being taken seriously here. When driving, I constantly notice vacant properties, but so far unfortunately not in my search area. What now?

No, 11ant seems to be of the opinion that you can't discover vacancies from the car at all. I'd bet on that: If there are twenty vacant houses in a search area of 600m², I found half of them by car within a week (and asked the neighbors. Yes, you can actually interrupt a car ride!). On foot, the likelihood is high that you wouldn't even have come close to a vacancy.

??? I don’t read 600sqkm south of A2 between 2 cities now ;) I only read interpreted “ Verl with surroundings, but no backwater” ... That is just a property now. Maybe check the radius again and also look north? Be that as it may: most find something within 2-3 years.

Maybe you should have a bit more humor for breakfast in the mornings and not weigh some posts too heavily. Nobody gets paid for their answers here, so this forum is also a leisure activity during corona times ;)

You’re right, I just measured my area on Google Maps, it’s only 200 sq km, I slightly overestimated the side lengths of my search rectangle... Besides Verl, Schloss Holte Stukenbrock, Oerlinghausen, and Sennestadt are also options. I did not exclude a small village. It was supposed to mean 600km²[B]. North is getting thin. Avenwedde and Friedrichsdorf would still be options, further north the distance to the parents would be too great.

Oh, it’s not a big deal. I just find it amusing how some people are riding hard on our sounding trips here... Getting burned is a small price to pay for the valuable information you get here, so once again a heartfelt thanks to everyone involved.
