I haven't studied the LR function in detail, but according to German law the maximum transmission power is limited anyway: 100mW at 2.4GHz and up to 1W at 5GHz (depending on the channel). Alex85 is completely right: it always takes two. Both the access point and the client device must have the transmission power for you to notice a difference (it's no use if you're shouting at your friend on a mountain with a megaphone but he only has his mouth without a booster to answer). For better reception, you can either set up several access points and run them in mesh mode, attach other antennas with higher dBi gain, or simply check which channels the competition is using, choose a free channel (if possible) and hope that the competition doesn't jump in there. Or good old "hardwiring" with LAN.

No mesh, cable please! Mesh is a crutch, even if it's currently somehow being hyped around the world.

I have rarely read such nonsense, but if anywhere, then from you (see "Ölbrenner"). I have a regular 65" TV and you can see the difference between 2k and 4k immediately.

I'm not alone after all.

I actually bought it this time without deeper research: Measured the distance in the store, noticed a noticeable difference, bought it. And I could swear the difference is real, even if according to Wikipedia it shouldn't be...

I totally agree, by the way. I will install a LAN socket on the ground floor and the upper floor each. On the ground floor, at the top of the wall towards the terrace, and on the upper floor, at the top of the wall in the middle of the hallway for an access point each.

Then every bedroom will get a LAN socket just for the TV. The problem here is that the children are 5 and 7 years old and currently don’t have their own TV and won’t be getting one for at least the next 5 years. Where is the best place to put the LAN sockets then? If I "miscalculate" here, the LAN socket with the 2-3m long LAN cable would be pointless again.

Our bedroom will also get LAN and TV but more for "preserving value," since we don’t have or need a TV in the bedroom.

So I end up with 6 LAN sockets plus 1 for the basement.
It's not a huge deal anyway.

What do you think about this setup?
