Kitchen price comparison - Fair or fantasy?

The topic is not what I want, but kitchen prices, fair or fantasy? It usually applies in life, you get what you pay for. There is no free lunch. But here in the kitchen trade, something has gotten out of hand. Do you really get what you pay for, or do you get too little for too much? Today they give you the VAT for free, tomorrow even 50%, the next day the dishwasher is free, or all kitchens including installation... That’s why, not because they are exorbitantly high quality, I love the Swede. There is none of that crap. Price is price, it is always fair, never cheap, always good value. That the oven Realistik for 299,- is not Miele is clear. But for us it’s enough, and otherwise it just gets thrown out. For 299,- I can buy five pieces, until I reach Miele’s 1500,-. We were at three kitchen dealers, Möbel Kraft, very untrustworthy, a small one around the corner, quite trustworthy but expensive, and of course Ikea. We are both not perfectionists and have no fun boasting with high class. It should do what we expect it to do. That’s just our attitude towards life. On top of that, the complicated fuss with the planning, I come with a finished kitchen layout and the guy still needs 2 hours to punch it into his computer. And we have to entertain our then 1-year-old daughter in the meantime... *argh*

Then the delivery times - "You have to reckon 3-4 months" Hello? For a plain ordinary kitchen with standard dimensions? Seriously???

After two attempts, we gave up and went to Ikea. Works for us!

Isn't it the same with kitchens as with the house itself? If you want something individual, you have to plan each part separately. There is no flat rate price. If I request exactly the same kitchen (really exactly) from 3 different dealers, the price difference will probably be manageable—just like with houses. Comparability only fails if I don't know what I want. Well, but who really knows what they want?

Plan the room specifically so that it fits the standard. Example: Module sizes 20-40-60-80- they all have. 90 corner carousels as well. Thus, we planned the kitchen in the construction plan so that 60-80-60-90 fits. Additionally, a wall distance of 20 left open, as the broom always stands there. With the new construction you have everything in hand. Karsten
