I think that's good! At least they’re like that! People often take the online price but use the convenient service on site.
But you won’t get that value back – not even from the person who appraises it.
Regarding the kitchen again:
I wouldn’t see it as reasonable to pay value y for a value x either.
But I also don’t have this bazaar experience. Maybe back then we could have bargained, maybe there would have been a bonus of – let’s say – €2000. Maybe.
This is how it went with us: I designed our house’s floor plan myself. Also concerning the kitchen design. So I knew how I would outfit each wall, where hanging cabinets would go, if at all, etc.
Planning was also done with the help of the online kitchen planner. I also considered getting an Ikea kitchen because I’m just into doing it myself. I also really like planning. Ideas for the look were set in my mind. And I really like saving money too!
I got a price including assembly at Ikea...
But: I know which Ikea cabinets will sag right away at first use (own experiences with old kitchen), so they look ugly, and Ikea shows limits with the appliances. Since we have an open kitchen, botched improvisation was out of the question.
So we ended up at the aforementioned kitchen studio with a price expectation that was above the Ikea price because I’m also gladly willing to pay more for AI -> a really well-rounded thing for a round sum! *after we had gone through several furniture studios and smaller kitchen studios. Something was always wrong: moon prices in the showrooms, no available salespeople, no appealing design in the display...
Our favored front was on offer there -> we went to the salesperson, who asked for our price expectation. Now I have to lie: he said with the front such-and-such, which was on offer, we come to about 50% appliances and 50% furniture price-wise. The front was Nolte.
So I pulled out my plan, and the salesperson planned suitable cabinets with nice pull-outs. Regarding the apothecary cabinet, he said right away "doesn't fit into the budget". Also at another thing he looked critically and said the same.
Appliances were asked about. Of course they should be in stainless steel look and nice to look at, a few features with steam cooker, whisper quiet and of course the AAA or at least A+ variant, etc.: he recommended Neff instead of Miele, and for the built-in appliances AEG. A device catalog with original prices was presented to us. I get short of breath with those. The salesperson said several times the prices shouldn't concern us, since 30% immediately and such come off during planning. Alright, so we chose them... then my husband came with the extra-thin countertop, which of course was more expensive than standard... and in the end something came out in the computer calculation slightly over our round limit: €10400! That was a statement, and since you hear a lot about kitchen purchase, we headed to the next town in the next days.
There, a typical kitchen specialty store (entrance to Lüneburg), we were immediately offered a good-and-cheap brand after showing my drawing and price statement. Unfortunately, it had very little leeway with door heights, so my statement about not having a horizontal offset in the doors was completely ignored. "That doesn’t exist in this price sector"... The saleswoman typed into the computer without involving us (she had my plan), and out came a price over €13000 WITHOUT appliances, which would be added later (it was close to closing time). If I imagine that if she had taken the high-quality Nolte, at maybe around €17000 without appliances, I could also puke***
We didn’t go back there either!
We accepted our €10400 price without hesitation and even negotiated a cookware set for induction (which cost several hundred € in sales). Four months later (when we had a better overview of all other construction costs) I changed the kitchen a bit, so another €1500 came on. The fridge came separately as an MM exhibition model, which we picked up ourselves 5 months before moving in.
If this kitchen had been cheaper somewhere else... or if someone told me we should have bargained here, it would have been all the same to me because I got my dream kitchen at our desired price.
