Is financing a single-family house feasible for us?

Much? One trip to the hairdresser per month costs you over €100. Nowadays even more. We always plan about €1,700 for such things and there are three of us.

And when I hear this statement about: "As long as the child isn't here yet, you can save"... We're not homeowners yet but after building the house, many additional costs come up. For example, landscaping, new furniture, etc.

For me personally, it would be way too tight. By the time you have children, you certainly won’t have 5k together anymore.

The construction costs will not be sufficient, no ifs or buts. Even with a lot of EL (masonry shell construction, installing windows, laying all floors yourself) at least 50k will be missing. I am rather expecting 100k.

That’s true again. We are building 140 sqm in Brandenburg without a basement and without a garage and are at 350,000 € + incidental costs, so close to 400,000 €.

Okay, that’s crazy. Yeah, that’s why you need to look at it individually, it really makes me realize how frugal we are.

There are two of us and at the moment we need per month:

- Food: €300
- Clothing: no idea, maybe €100 per month
- Cosmetics/household products: €50
- Hairdresser: €30 for me / my girlfriend only goes every 3-4 months for €70.

Of the €1,000 stated, we maybe have €500 costs.

@ That’s already the €700-800 difference you “could” have compared to others. That’s easily €10,000 per year when you look at it. Then you have it ready when a child comes. On the other hand, you can also put the money into special repayments, split your loan a bit and see if you can pay off a loan with a lower amount completely after 10–15 years.
