Is financing a single-family house feasible for us?

Just as an example of what you can get from us for €1,200,000. Brandenburg, about 30-40 minutes by car to Berlin. 1 hour by public transport.

253 sqm living space, over 2,000 sqm plot. Granny flat, garage, etc.

Which one do you mean? I see some for around 900k in Obermenzing, which with all additional costs, furniture, moving… will certainly end up over a million. Then I see one for 650k in Untermenzing. But that’s leasehold.

That would be new to me at least in Bavaria. Here there are hourly-based daycare fees and in addition family allowance of 250 euros, which at least covers part of the daycare costs. Living expenses (apart from eating out), clothes, etc. probably shouldn’t cost more than in the rest of Germany. I think it is also simply a perceived "poverty," since a lot of the upscale crowd also roam around Munich.

Yes, I look very enviously at you.
Our home is, unfortunately in this case, in southern Bavaria.
We would have also found work in Stuttgart. But it wouldn’t have been significantly cheaper for us either. It’s not just Munich that is expensive :-(

I would like to briefly throw the example of England into the discussion here ....

Anyone who has something to offer can or wants to or has to work there ... the normal people have long been unable to afford the rents and houses .... commuting 1.5 hours one way to the banking district has been normal for years .... it's stupid but that's how it is ... that's how it will be in Munich as well ....

You don’t have to look anywhere with envy. You have to be flexible. Everyone has a choice. Brandenburg, for example, is desperately looking for teachers. And it advertises very openly with civil servant status. So it’s possible. You just don’t want to. Nobody needs to complain to me about that. Apart from that, I am of the opinion that you should be able to afford the Munich metropolitan area if you have studied enough and are employed by one of the DAX companies based in Munich. If that is not the case, well, get out of there. And maybe not just southern Bavaria. The world is not made up of just one region. In my opinion, truly compelling reasons are rare.
