Then why are you even discussing the floor plan if you have already thought everything through. And just because you find something from a distant, idealized past as "that was already acceptable" doesn’t mean it is objectively good. There is a lot of "But I want it that way" in it. Then just do it that way. For me, the house remains poorly planned for the size. In almost everything. Whether it’s the mentioned mini-bathroom for the children, the trash niches in the rooms, "wrong" size proportions of rooms, etc.

Well, if I hadn’t put the floor plan up for discussion, I wouldn’t now be working on an alternative with a different staircase design, which I actually like even better in the end. This is exactly why I was here. I didn’t want to overturn the big picture, but improve my design.
Sure, there is a lot of "I just want it that way." Because it is supposed to be our house, and we have thought a lot about how we want things and what is important to us. Saved square meters on the kids’ bathroom, but enough space for doing the laundry later. Also sufficiently large children’s rooms are important to me. That’s why I save square meters in the master bedroom. Everyone has their own experience of what is important to them and what isn’t. I have seen award-winning architect-designed houses in which I wouldn’t feel comfortable at all. That’s why you build new, to be able to do it exactly as you want.
I have already taken away good input here, but I see some things differently, and ultimately I have to move in there.

Here still with a granny flat and 3 children's rooms on the upper floor.

If we can’t afford the bay window, that would be an interesting layout. Although then you have a huge light well in the garden. I find the idea of rotating the garage quite nice, but would it all really fit with 2 cars? That looks a bit tight for me when maneuvering.

That is completely legitimate.

I feel the same way. A good architect designs the house according to the requirements and wishes of their clients. Unfortunately, builders often take far too little time to become clear about their goals and priorities and their consequences, and architects often stop asking questions far too early and start drawing before the assignment is really clear. From this shortened process, it is a matter of luck if a good house comes out of it. Hardly anyone admits this – but the saying "The first house you build is for your enemy, the second for a friend, and the third for yourself" originates precisely from this.

Hopefully, you’ll then want to move in there and live well for a long time.

Hey, really nice thinking of the kids with not even five sqm for the bathroom. A good four percent of the upstairs area is available to the children for their hygiene. And on top of that, without a window. THAT is really sufficient.
That means later on, child 1 is in the children's bathroom and child 2 goes to the parents' bathroom. Getting ready together in this tiny bathroom is simply impossible. Just think about when they become teenagers. They will literally puke and curse you. Even worse when overnight guests arrive.
But well, you as a child had a good experience (sarcasm!).

That's not at all what I mean by "I like the floor plan." Years ago, we also built nearly 300 sqm of living space, but no one comes up with such nonsense. Better to make the children's rooms significantly smaller and have either an en suite bathroom for each or a spacious children's bathroom where more than one person can be in at the same time. And please, also with a window. You won't even find such interior bathrooms (even with a light dome) in new social housing.

With that, I'll step out of the floor plan discussion. It's not really my thing anyway.
