Trailer is the magic word to protect your car. The maintenance costs are close to zero, so it makes sense to buy and sell a used trailer relatively quickly. Or you know someone who lends you their trailer (these things are usually used infrequently) for a crate of beer. With most cars, you can tow 1.5 tons with a Class B license, which then gives you 1.1-1.2 tons of payload. Besides, all the dirt stays outside.

There was never talk of 80%. If you build monolithically, you have the thermal insulation in the stones. And these are indeed only glued afterward. The requirements are fixed in advance. Then you get everything delivered ready-made, stones and adhesive. Insulation no longer goes on the outside. I looked at that in our construction and can hardly imagine what you could do wrong. And that is not only possible with Ytong, but with many stones. This also has nothing to do with rip-offs. There are simply enough people who do not want or cannot do it for various reasons.

And then you can also use the trailer to cheaply get firewood :)

And you grow with your tasks. When we started the renovation, our skills were limited. By now, there is very little we don't dare to tackle. Roof, for example. Or more complex electrical work. Tiles in the living area in an old building (nothing is straight). But most things can definitely be done by yourself if you read up, inform yourself, and have skill. And the drive to really want to do it and follow through. Just casually and only a few hours on Sundays, that of course won’t work. Acquire or borrow proper tools, buy a trailer. Of course, always taking into account the safety of yourself and any helpers!

Besides the obvious mistakes like crooked and tilted walls or the wall a few centimeters to the side, there are indeed things you can do wrong. Here are two photos, errors are explained in the spoiler box. Anyone can stack stones, but building a house professionally and exactly according to plan is another matter. Luckily, there is the forum, where you can see that things can go much worse than with my masons -.- The horizontal joint is not correct. The stones are only mortared in the middle, but it should be full-surface. You shouldn’t be able to stick something in there, especially not several centimeters. Insufficient overlap of the stones.

Yes, of course you can make these and other mistakes. But these are all things you can find information about. No one says you do it off the cuff like that.

A wall being off by a few centimeters shouldn't really happen if you let someone else lay the first row of bricks. And I assume you know how to use a guideline and a spirit level if you're doing something like that.
