I already said that the entrance "belongs" where the "utility room" is located in posts #51 / #52 – and that this already answers/settles the garage position question; "without alternative," as the former chancellor used to say.

Yes, that could really be good. It would also suit me, a roof at the entrance maybe near the garage wouldn't be a bad thing either.

But I overheard somewhere that with timber frame construction there still has to be a step before the entrance. Therefore, the garage door can't be too close to the house, because of the step you would always have to drive over. Apparently, that has to do with the fact that the house is not continuously standing on a beam that ideally shouldn't be underground, because of moisture and such.
Is that correct? No step at ground level with the prefab house?

No idea. The base slab is just as much made of concrete as in the brick house. You also build solid construction best above street level… However, I would personally always plan a small entrance area in front of the front door. You don’t want to stand in the bike lane of the driveway when you unlock the front door, do you?! And somewhere you want to put the welcome flowerpot anyway. Sorry, but nothing works at the entrance without decoration :D

Here is my idea. With another staircase, that is, a landing, changed in some form, it was not sufficient for me. It is simply like this: long staircases generate a lot of hallway space. I would consider the space for hallways too precious, but after all, it is not my house.

Yes yes exactly. A small platform as an entrance and if then the garage door stands too close to the house, in the worst case the platform overlaps with the garage door, I hope you know what I mean. And the construction company said that your house always needs such a platform or step as an entrance because the beam on the base slab must always lie above it.

Well, what a bunch of jokers. They make more building setback on the side for more driveway width because of the platform, despite the entrance being on the gable side.
