So, I went ahead and experimented a bit. Since I no longer had this initial post in mind, I assumed the office instead of the guest room. In addition, I addressed more of your concerns that the garden might become too narrow on the SW side and the desired spaciousness in the living room. I have neglected the garage and carport for now, so I made a mistake with the windows in the children's room, but that can be placed on the SW side. The furniture are placeholders!

By the way, the gable is open to me in the living room and kitchen.

Thank you very much for this draft, I know that something like this involves a considerable amount of time!

I really like this draft and the layout of the rooms, especially the living room + kitchen. Unfortunately, there is a big but. In our current apartment, we have experienced that you can hear the noises from the bathroom and kitchen in the bedroom even when there is a solid wall in between.

In this draft, the bedroom is adjacent to the living room and the bathroom. We still sleep soundly before a night shift, but according to the experience of older colleagues, sleep definitely becomes much lighter with age. It is similar with the children's room, which is next to the utility room and kitchen.

But this makes me realize that with these ideas/wishes, we will probably have to accept a long corridor... or how do you see it?

We had also already considered an open gable in our floor plan, but the architect advised us to go with a cold roof (for cost reasons).

If things are done properly and decoupled, you don't hear anything... however, I understand your thoughts. I have also lived in many apartments where nothing was decoupled.

Yes, I can understand the problem as well, I also don't know to what extent the wall thickness can reduce it. And if so, as a victim, one would still not expose oneself to it, especially with shift work. Let's see if I have another idea. For me, the time I invest in it is equivalent to the time it takes to solve a Sudoku puzzle - a puzzle that needs to be cracked. There must be a good solution!

Hello Yvonne,

At the front right, a simple solution is possible. Design the dressing room as a passage room; this way it forms a buffer between the sleeping area and the bathroom

That was the original issue: little or no good wardrobe space in the dressing room due to the door positions
Here we would have over 6 meters!

Edit: however, it would be an alternative: then we would still have the partition wall living room/bedroom and the children's room
