Maybe you confused us in your mind. We don't have a wall at all and in hindsight my roommates would have preferred a completely separate kitchen (I actually like it this way). Pure visual privacy is not so much the problem, even though the kitchen is often messy, but rather the noise I make when cooking or cleaning up, when others want to watch something quietly.
