I named several concrete examples, e.g. the lack of zoning of the individual functional areas and the question of why a 1.5 sqm broom closet is planned in the middle of the living space. It is more like you stand there and ask what exactly is wrong with wearing rubber boots, a ballet skirt, and a tailcoat in the office.

...but we've already had all that!

So that everyone here continues to have some entertainment, here are the latest updates :)

Basement: Got a cellar staircase and a sink.

Ground floor: The "Maypole" is gone. The design of the partition between the windbreak and the hallway will be done by a carpenter. We imagine a ceiling-high cabinet element, with a closed glass door either in front of or behind the stairs; we will decide that when we are in the room. The office and guest bathroom fit quite well together, even though the mini-hallway is somehow dead space. The folders and bookshelves will then go on the outside wall. Kitchen size and layout are not finalized yet. The parapet is gone, fixed glazing as well.

Upper floor: Not many big changes, except the parents' side; the children's bathroom has a shower, washing machine and dryer are in the parents' bathroom. The window in the parents' room probably needs to be bigger, but we are waiting for feedback from the factory. There should be no roof window there...

Well, I do have to smile, but somehow it's not really funny.

Why do you tangle yourself or the rooms like that when it can be done differently?
With three running meters of 60cm cabinets... and a proper room where you actually like to work.

Because we do not want to make the necessary compromises.

We simply do not want a WC door in the red area. Not at all. Dirt, too close to the door, etc. We now have a WC right at the door. It is the fastest to reach from the kitchen and living room. We do not use it and prefer to walk 3 meters and one door further. So this is not just a figment of imagination, but our reality. If we were to build it like that, we would probably always go upstairs instead. It was the same on our trip to Denmark, the master bathroom was right at the wardrobe, only the spare bathroom upstairs at the end of the corridor was used.

The yellow area is an acceptable compromise for me. I would have liked the door at the end of the bathroom, but I was outvoted. Personally, I would also find a 45° wall for the bathroom entrance nice, but I am probably very much alone in this.

That’s your projection. I like my dark little room. I have a 49" monitor and a monitor on the wall. When I am at the PC, I don’t look at my room, at most out of the window for my eyes – here the roller shutter is usually closed 75%. When I play games everything is dark anyway. I like it that way and simply don’t want a bigger room. I find a small room rather calming. And that way I don’t have to use half a home office and half a storage room.

Not that I don’t know it: in the office I have a "beautiful" 300x450 cm corner office on the 5th floor. It’s just not for me.

Of course, objectively seen, we lose space. But in our hierarchy and weighting, this is so far the optimum.

Then just go to the basement. Just because you like it that way doesn’t mean you ruin a room already during the planning.
Sorry, I respect everyone’s little house, but if you bring your personal preferences into the walls in a way that hardly anyone else will benefit from this square meterage, I simply consider it childish.
