...but I would like to fully understand the thought behind that. We consciously decided FOR an Ikea kitchen but with self-chosen appliances, which I am currently sitting in. If I see other kitchens more often, I wouldn't know what I should have done differently and I look at them more closely each time. I used to have a direct comparison in the house; Nolte upstairs and Ikea downstairs. If you bring a bit of imagination, I gladly choose Ikea; also with regard to the costs, of course. The noticeable difference for me would be if you make a real leap upwards. But then you shouldn't have to worry about other costs in the house either.
Well, we, for example, had our kitchen assembled.
But that has nothing to do with Ikea... unfortunately, after some time you can see assembly errors there now.
An example are the finishing strips under the kitchen, which are not in one piece and when you vacuum there they're not particularly stable.
You probably wouldn't even notice that generally, but we have LED light strips with motion sensors attached there and the contacts always come loose because it's not very stable.
Occasionally the soft-close mechanisms (I'll call them that now), meaning the ones that make the doors close slowly and not slam, come off the hinges. The unit, for example, has 2 cover panels (but you can patch those up) because it was assembled by ourselves and there was no standard option like that.
