I would also find such a staircase right in the middle of the way uncomfortable. It would make me feel like in a restaurant where there is often a staircase going up. Besides, such a staircase will always be an obstacle in the way, no matter how modern it is designed. After all, it goes upward. If you want a room divider, then make yourselves a nice custom-made one for this room instead of immediately using a staircase. I agree with the discomfort, passing visitors, handicap for the house.

You can also overdo it with the shoebox design. The staircase is placed crosswise; it will have to be rotated before the birth. It blocks the entire floor plan. The boiler won’t fit through the door ;-)

Yes, we deliberately want not more square meters and rather keep it minimalist. We are also considering turning the staircase 180 degrees and accessing it from the hallway. Dining from the kitchen then, which would also be more practical. The staircase, rotated, clearly separates the living room.

Choose a different stair design. The staircase takes up a lot of space. You do not have space to spare.

I would get rid of the straight staircase. Your hallway upstairs is almost as big as the children's rooms because of the staircase

I myself also only had 10 sqm own room before in a flat facing northeast. That works fine for our kids. I think our son will play a lot with us on the ground floor in the first few years later.

It's enough if you ask me, too little according to my wife. More space also encourages accumulating more stuff. :) There will still be a 3x3m storage room behind/at the carport.
