Straight stairs in smaller buildings are very difficult if they are not located on one of the longitudinal sides of the building. I would avoid stairs in living spaces anyway due to noise reasons, and enclosed stairs for practical reasons as well (here it seems to be open). The staircase divides the living room like a huge foreign body. How do you walk there in everyday life? Impractical. Remove the door to the kitchen. The "window seat" is rather out of necessity because otherwise no dining area would fit. Some people think they find their feel-good spot there, but as a guest, I simply feel inhibited to lean against it. There is a complete lack of storage space. How is that supposed to work?

We found the second entrance door/floor-to-ceiling window quite charming, as groceries can be quickly and conveniently carried into the house and stored. This comes at the expense of storage space, we know that. The idea came from a magazine. Meanwhile, I am not quite as attached to it anymore.

The question is whether in such a "small" house, one should focus more on storage options rather than saving 5 meters of walking distance? I think you already have quite a lot of floor-to-ceiling windows, but because of that, you can't place anything in front of them. Under a "normal" window, at least a bed/desk/dresser can be placed.

I would never want to have the stairs in the living room with children. You will never have peace there. Imagine a bunch of 8-year-olds trampling through your living room. Or a group of teenagers coming home late at night, having a drink, etc. And a lot of dirt gets tracked in, kids don't always remember to take off their shoes.

And then, in the attic, I would definitely put the children's rooms on the south side and the bedroom on the north side. I find the children's rooms too small in relation to the hallway and bedroom; I think the children's rooms should definitely not be smaller than the bedroom if space is limited. I don't need an extra dressing room, but the kids need space to play and for friends, if possible.

that depends on the children...
My brother and I really never played in our rooms but rather in the living room or the hallway.
If teenagers want to drink something, they have to go to the kitchen anyway. That has nothing to do with the stairs, unless they have a fridge in their bedroom ;-)
I also find the stairs misplaced or rather I would choose a different type of stairs. They do not fit the size of the house.

I would also shift the entire building 0.5 - 1.0m to the left/west. Although it is exactly on the eastern 3m line, the driveway with carport and entrance situation is very cramped. On the other hand, there is 9m of plot depth on the west side, so you can still take some space from there with a clear conscience. You will need an oversized carport with storage anyway. Planning everything with minimal dimensions will not work.
