What I like about the new upper floor plan from is that there is no longer a line of sight through the house with front and back windows, which means going naked with things under your arm to the bathroom works better

I would probably add a small storage room there

The factor of appearance seems to be easily answered with the version without the pantry. When it comes to practicality, you have to consider what you actually give up with the version without the pantry. I believe there is often the misconception that having a pantry automatically means more storage space:

[*]Instead of 4 tall cabinets, you can fit 6 tall cabinets without a pantry --> Significantly more storage space
[*]The narrow 60cm half-island as well as the cabinets around the corner (under the window) become a wider 1.20m freestanding sink or cooking island. I would omit these bar stools anyway, as you have a nice seating area right next to the kitchen where guests can linger while you cook. The bar stools take up unnecessary space at the expense of a wide cooking island. What you give up in storage space with the cabinets around the corner and in the pantry you can almost one-to-one credit to the storage space in the wider sink-cooking island
--> Same or slightly less storage space
[*]In many floor plans with a pantry, the pantry is used among other things as a direct access from the entrance to the kitchen, which is a clear plus for a pantry. This is eliminated here in both versions anyway.
[*]You have a basement! Often people build with a pantry when they don’t have one. In your case, it is different: waffle irons, chocolate fountains, deep fryers, roasters... in other words, everything that is not needed on a daily basis goes to the basement anyway and you have more space upstairs for preserves etc. that you need to access more often.

Conclusion: From my point of view you aren’t giving up anything; you only gain without the pantry. Of course, the „surroundings“ in this whole matter must also be taken into account: you have a larger bathroom on the ground floor with a shower option.

I'll come out as a pantry person or as it was nicely described, a "cooking kitchen and show kitchen."

We will also build a second small room and there is deliberately another row planned there, or 2x1.4m, precisely because my wife often has various hellish devices like the Thermomix, Bosch Mum, etc. running, and the noise can indeed be quite annoying in the living area when these appliances run frequently and for a long time. Everything annoying that is well occupied with itself is thus transferred to the "secondary kitchen." Additionally, there is a "mobile" hotplate for when something is fried that doesn't necessarily have to linger odor-wise in the living room for a long time. We couldn't care less where the supplies are stored, but the pure "storage of the pantry" is, in my opinion, outdated for the reasons mentioned, and I find the currently often planned narrow aisles terribly impractical.

With nearly 30cm size difference, she is fine with the diminutive... regarding devices, she gets annoyed herself when, for example, we watch a series and the things next door run at full throttle for up to 20 minutes for HER fluff.
