I keep wondering what people store in their kitchen cabinets. :)

I have a cupboard with food for more than 14 days in it. In the cellar are the canned, pickled, potatoes, onions, garlic, carrots, and co. Everything that is stored too warm in the pantry in the new building

I also find the floor plan simply beautiful and clear. I really like it. I am a self-proclaimed hipped roof hater and would rather go for a gable roof. Especially since you can then accommodate "real" windows in the gable sides.

Regarding the basement stairs, an underdeveloped idea: can't you "enclose" the outside stairs and use that as the only basement access? For that, you would need to rearrange the WC and pantry slightly to gain access from the hallway. If you manage that elegantly, you can make the ground floor/upper floor stairs much friendlier (more open).

Gladly, I'm happy if I can provide you with ideas.

I also have one for the upper floor, but it's a matter of taste. I always plan the way I would do it myself, and I like a separate dressing room, and I like the T-bathrooms with easy-care large showers where you don't always have to wipe the glass. For 4 people, I also prefer a hidden toilet. Children are best placed in the south; for me, the bedroom should only have a north-facing window. It's simply cooler in summer. The staircase is shifted slightly to the left on the floor plan (similar to my ground floor design). Also, one stair step is built over (which fits easily). The large wasted space in the hallway is better used this way, in my opinion. Between parents and child, you could insert a thicker wall / soundproof wall if that bothers you.

I wonder why most people have a knot in their head these days. By now, the pantry apparently is no longer used for supplies, but for all electrical appliances, all food, any drinks, and some even put their refrigerator in there, mind you the main refrigerator. Whoever has the space and money, whoever needs a showroom kitchen for whoever, go ahead! Let them do it! People, just build without a kitchen, make the pantry really big so that two people can be in there, and next to the sink there’s surely still room for the (second) stove for the stinky frying stuff. Then you rename the Speis to Küche for the limited viewer. Hehe... Normally, you should be able to fit everything in the kitchen. If not, the kitchen is either poorly planned or not tidy. Things like fondue or popcorn maker can be brought from the storage room/utility room/cellar. And whoever otherwise has little storage space for drinks and recycling bags and the floor plan does not have a large freezer room but only two smaller auxiliary rooms, then makes a pantry out of that. The canned goods may then gladly be taken from the kitchen cupboard or storage room.

That is certainly a good idea too, but I can't imagine that it's that simple.

Thanks again so much to you!! We really like this upper floor idea very much as well, and we've often wondered what to do with the unused corridor space. And then you come along and come up with such an idea. We also find the T-shaped bathroom brilliant!!!

Thank you! :)

The only question we still have and have to decide for ourselves is whether we want to keep the pantry on the ground floor or not. I think it will depend on the kitchen planner and how he designs the kitchen, with or without access to the pantry. Because I think the kitchen simply looks better without a pantry door. Whether it is practical then will be another question.
