Maybe we are related without knowing it. Although, then it would be the other way around. We also had all kinds of samples in mind, but in the end, it was also a decision based on availability. We needed 180 sqm and only that amount was available, so we took it. It always looks different in the room than on a single plank, but you know that. Actually, I really don’t find this too lively here; I even think it shouldn’t be any less lively so it doesn’t look boring. He himself swears by the Lindura floor, which in my opinion has great widths and even a good feel. They have launched a new series meanwhile, but you hardly read anything about it online, only a few comments, and those were not so good... strange. Still, I can’t imagine that Meister sold junk like that for years, so I basically find it interesting as well. In the new house, we can now decide entirely for ourselves, and we have chosen screwed solid wood planks, where in our opinion we have found another good source. I honestly don’t see why I should buy the Meister floor in expensive first choice with this quality. In our kitchen, it’s the wooden floor, no problems at all. The floor is "matte lacquered," that is, UV-oiled or something like that, which is completely trouble-free and durable. If, for example, you want to lay tiles there, you just have a difficult transition and usually need an ugly transition strip, especially if you lay the floor floating, which I basically like.

There is certainly some truth to that. The right balance between too lively and boring has to be found, while we would like to avoid the floor looking too "dominant" in the room.

That confirms my previous assumption or plan for next year 1:1, thanks. Let's see whether I ultimately decide on floating installation or possibly, for the first time, on gluing.

Wishing you much joy in advance with the upcoming decision regarding the solid wood planks!

Once again, hello everyone,
hello Pagoni,

I am currently in the process of making a decision for a specific parquet (to determine the screed height) and have finally settled on the PD400 and PD450 series from Meister. Actually on the latter, because with its 255 mm width it looks even nicer and is comparably priced. BUT, unfortunately, this one is only available "matte lacquered" and not "oiled" as I would have liked.
Since you already mentioned the lacquer finish above and described it as trouble-free/durable, I would be happy to hear a bit more about it.

According to my previous research and other testimonials, while the matte lacquered is indeed more durable, it is not necessarily more "long-lasting," as it is not or only poorly repairable.
Scratches do not appear as quickly, but if they do, they are more noticeable than on the oiled surface and not easily "retreated." Likewise, for example, hot fat splashes in the kitchen would hardly be noticeable on the oiled floor, as they penetrate and darken slightly, but do not damage the surface as on the lacquered one.

Can anyone confirm or contradict these statements?
I cannot decide between all the pros and cons.

Yes, I can confirm that. A varnish on the surface makes the wood nicely "glow" and look stylish for a long time. ... is also easy to clean. Scratches, which eventually always occur, look bad after a short time because the wood is exposed there and dirt collects. Such scratches then get darker and stand out. You can practically not repair them, only "redo everything." Oiled surfaces have the scratch problem less, because you can "re-oil" without having to redo everything. (Varnish on varnish does not really work well and is much more complicated – oil on oil is trouble-free) In the worst case, you can even sand out stains and only re-oil that part (depending on the circumstances, there might be a lighter spot there for a while). That works and is a clean craftsmanship solution. Oiled wood overall looks less new faster, depending on how much effort you put into cleaning. I mean: Wood is much more "wood" when it is only oiled.

Thank you! Unfortunately, it only makes things more complicated ;)

My wife is already at odds with the decision "for parquet." I want it installed everywhere except the technical room and bathrooms. If I now "grab the wrong box" here, I will never be happy again :) I can already see it coming that in the end the snap decision will be made and we will end up with the tried-and-true Meister laminate :) As always, the agony of choice.

Laminate is basically plastic – it has its pros and cons. I think it stays "stylish" longer than painted wood and is obviously cheaper. But it is not ecological. ...I am convinced: all plastic that we humans use will eventually end up in the ocean – with all the toxic consequences. Recycling I consider to be a sham because it only takes a bit longer. And the emissions in the living space are not beneficial. (also an advantage of oil over paint: the ecological balance is far better with the latter) I personally also think: you can feel the difference ... but I admit ... I am a "eco"
