Be careful with that - it must be done well. Friends of ours did something wrong when installing floating parquet and since then there is some kind of slight smacking noise when it springs back. It hasn't settled after a year.

Springiness sounds good in theory but can also lead to unwanted noises. Therefore, for me it is clear that I will glue my parquet!

It would be interesting to know how they did it or what they "did wrong." If the floorboards are screwed down, they don’t really spring or feel springy. However, it could be that the insulation underneath is floating, like in the system from, for example, Steico, which I actually favor. We screwed our floorboards onto joists, and these joists were screwed to the subfloor, so nothing creaked. I want to think it over again beforehand whether I’ll choose the floating or screwed solution. The floating solution is also designed to decouple the insulation/joists from the floor for soundproofing reasons, and of course, it is faster to install. But since soundproofing will hardly play a role for us, I would be interested in that, if it is possible. Did you screw the floorboards down and what does the substructure look like?

I just want to briefly report that I have now installed the parquet floating (on screed with underfloor heating) and it is really more comfortable than a glued floor. So I can recommend it.

I thought so, just yesterday I was walking on a firmly glued parquet floor, which was "rock hard."
Do you have a few pictures?
Did you staple them?

Pictures will be available the day after tomorrow. The floor is oiled and I am currently not allowed to step on it.

The floor itself is a assembled parquet (with something layered as a substrate and an oak surface of x mm) with tongue and groove.
On the sides, between the first and second row, wood glue was applied into the groove. Otherwise, everything is simply fitted together.
The underlay is a kind of foam rubber with an aluminum moisture barrier that is only 3-4mm thick in total.
The floor was oiled with an almost transparent hard wax oil.

And the man who laid the floor was exceptionally nice. I prefer nice craftsmen in the house rather than grumps. That makes the floor even a little bit more beautiful than it already is. :D

I will provide photos the day after tomorrow. :)

Tell me more about your choice.

I also plan to lay engineered parquet (almost) everywhere and absolutely cannot decide whether to do floating or glued. So far, I have only laid floating floors, but I also have a comparison with glued floors at relatives. Both have advantages and disadvantages, so far I tend to glue in my own home. The latter because it feels like something "permanent" should be created. Also because it feels like the advantages for underfloor heating and large continuous areas outweigh with glued flooring!?
