I am also eco and had lacquered parquet in the previous apartment and now oiled parquet in the new house. Oiled feels much better, I think. Much less plastic-like. Do you want to glue or lay floating? That would be the next fundamental discussion. :D

Our oiled parquet was glued to the screed. It took a while for me to be convinced that it would hold at all, but by now I believe it. (It has gone well for 4 years so far, so I hope it will also work for the remaining 9 years that statistically I still have.) This is, of course, also done with plastic, but I don't want to be too strict (especially not with myself ;)) and I didn't like the alternatives...

Hm....of course I want to help you with this, but also not tell you any nonsense. We had the exact same, of course also nocturnal, considerations here as well. Got boards, compared, read, felt, etc. My wish was "oiled" because that sounded more natural in terms of the basic feel and lacquer rather shiny and cheap-looking. The decision then came down to availability for us, because there was only one matt lacquered floor in the large amount we needed. So again....look at boards, feel, tap, think......read and in the end called Meister directly twice. They probably would have stopped answering the phone eventually......at some point. I believe that in the end we were also influenced by the statement of a lady from Meister, who told me why she has exactly this parquet in her own apartment. First, this "matt lacquered" is not the same as the usual lacquered, but something similar to UV-oiled.....sorry, I lack the technically exact description. You don’t have to regularly re-oil this floor or clear everything out, which sounded less pleasant due to the size of the rooms and my age / chronic sluggishness. Also, this "matt" rather looks a bit rough, so not smooth/shiny as feared. Now, if I look at the picture of your PD450 on the website I would say that is our floor here. If you lived in Saxony I would have said, just come by briefly. As for durability, I have to pass, because I think every wooden floor visually forgives dents more than a stain on a carpet or a chipped tile. I would have zero problems choosing this floor with small children as well, because eventually every floor (including that of mom and dad) would have some dents. We are talking about an extremely thin film of lacquer or oil here, a falling knife doesn’t care about that. The plastic-like thing mentioned above this matt lacquered does not have, which is why you have to be careful to really compare apples to apples. I wouldn’t want the "normal" lacquered either. So I was initially against it, was overruled by availability and am now very satisfied with it and it was even installed as a floating floor, so basically did everything wrong and yet am satisfied. If I can help you somehow, feel free to contact me directly, we can also have a call if it would help....video etc. Fundamentally, neither is right or wrong, which is why I don’t see a snap decision.

Thank you all for your sympathy! ;)

With no other trade do I worry as much as with the floor. No idea whether justified or unjustified. But the wooden floor is very close to my heart :)

And even though I have decided on the manufacturer, I find it difficult to find THE right one, especially since the marketing-tuned descriptions are all similar to identical. But I will figure out the differences and hope in the end not to fall into a rash decision :)

Whether glued or floating, no idea. I'm already laughing at myself because I have already bought 10 buckets of adhesive and now tend to go for floating installation, basically as a concession to my wife. She didn’t want parquet and if so, then not glued. So I’ll probably exchange the adhesive for the insulation underlay, look at the happy woman, and save myself the gluing work :)

Then oiled, UV-oiled or lacquered might actually be completely irrelevant and in case of doubt the floor will be easier to replace than with full-surface gluing.

So, thanks for your contributions and your invitation ! Unfortunately, Saxony is not just around the corner from NRW, although I would actually like to visit Dresden again sometime.

Have a nice evening!

With no other trade do I put as much thought into it as I do with the floor. The floor was the most expensive thing we invested in during our house renovation. And I’m always happy about it :) ... it’s simply "the foundation" ...

Just don’t commit to a manufacturer. Commit to the wood. To the board size. To an installation. But please not to the manufacturer. It basically doesn’t matter which one you take. I have had parquet between €20 and €140 per sqm in my hands, installed it, and lived with it. Wood is wood. They were all the same.
