I'm coming out now, we have a [Kinderbad]. So far, it's not used by the daughter but by me. The two bathrooms are a luxury in the morning when we get ready at the same time and don't have to wait for someone to finish in the toilet. It's certainly not necessary for happiness – but when I hear my colleagues with daughters (13 and 15), I'm glad to have a [Kinderbad] in 10 years. P.S. In hindsight, I would also build the smaller shower bathroom in the parents' area and the larger family bathroom accessible from the hallway. But I think my wife sees it differently...

There are shower toilets on the ground floor for that. But as already noted, habits are different. For example, no one here would wait until someone else is finished in the bathroom. But as someone previously hinted, there are families who never see each other naked. That of course limits parallel use. Although you can also simply build the toilet separately.

The teenagers are also welcome to learn that they are not the center of the universe, it doesn't hurt to know that.

I think going to the bathroom alone is fine, it has nothing to do with not seeing anyone naked. For some things, it’s not necessary for family to come and go. Just as I wouldn’t want to do that to my nose either.

It is not a feature, it is a bug.

It is considered convenient (and it is) and desirable (it is not) to minimize the necessities of coordination among each other, of giving in and compromise through appropriate spaces. Having to "rough it out together" develops skills that are often lacking today. It is not only due to [Kinderbädern], but also. And the desire for it is symptomatic.

It is simply not good when everyone can do "their thing" within the family as undisturbed as possible.

And it also has to do with the topic: Of course, leaving out such rooms, with the purpose of leading family members past each other, makes building cheaper.
