Yes, you’re right about the garden. Especially if you also have a basement and need to support the terrace. So that it is also 1m higher. That really costs a lot… But still, I now always see these trendy gardens with walls/stones/plants in the new development areas. That costs a lot.

And conversely, some existing gardens are more of a burden than a benefit, especially when various trees planted 50 years ago are now over 20m tall and too close to the house. Then you have to pay expensively for the felling and plant again ;)

Pay dearly for the filling? Here it’s done for free if the colleagues are allowed to keep the wood. Win-win

What does supporter mean? The point is to get the OP to reconsider what he condemns. Or rather should (-> budget)! Nobody is talking about new. If you want to own property, you should look at any kind of property. And not convince yourself with the “deal of the day” from a colleague’s father or something similar. The OP does not answer the questions, so one can assume there is quite a bit of naivety regarding dream, desire, and reality. But the residential value should also be adjusted to the salary or liquidity. How often can you see here in the forum, and I find that very interesting, proud builders who consider their house, their path, and their situation as a model and a gift shortly before moving in. Everything else seems no longer worthy (see terraced house).

Ultimately, the decision whether to choose a townhouse or not depends on the neighbors living to the left and right. It's difficult because no one knows how the relationship with the people next door will develop over the years. Maybe you yourself are the "unbearable proletarian"... Of course, if money is no object, one wishes for a detached single-family house with the largest possible plot and plenty of distance to the nearest neighbor. In [D] that's nowadays difficult or expensive.

Something got messed up when rearranging the sentence. The houses I mean are from the 60s, with leasehold until the 2050s. Still well beyond half a million.
