As I "feared": the inadequate upper floor is precisely the "result" of the fact that the layout of the ground floor fit quite nicely. This wall alignment "improvement" is certainly not worth redrawing it "properly." My counterproposal would be: if it doesn’t work this way, then reverse it. So develop the (because of the smaller rooms more challenging) upper floor first and then derive the ground floor from it.

Hello, based on the feedback, I have created a sketch that is not to scale but has a changed room layout. What do you think of the new layout compared to the 1st and 2nd versions? We basically want to keep the ground floor as it is because we like it that way. Regards

Well, I would say: conceptually definitely much more convincing at first. However, you would still need to check that with measurements. It’s not about turning it upside down - but merely about deriving the simpler from the more difficult instead of the other way around. That doesn’t have to mean that what is liked on the ground floor would be lost in the process.

I had the idea last night too. But I would swap the parents' bathroom with the utility room if you don't absolutely need the entrance to the bathroom through the bedroom. If someone has a bowel movement, it stinks in the bedroom if the door is not closed. Also, the bathroom would be bigger then. The utility room is just for the washing machine and dryer anyway, right?

When planning the children's bathroom and the location of the rooms, I would prefer direct access. If someone is afraid of bad smells, they would just go into the hallway... However, I am of the opinion that a) the ventilation system could be activated with a button at the toilet or b) briefly opening the window can be very helpful.
