...that would also be available as an outward-opening door if needed. But I would definitely make the difference based on whether I want to use such a door more often or regularly, or only occasionally. Having to constantly open a lift-and-slide door would be too cumbersome for me, and additional costs for that would bother me more elsewhere.

As far as I understand, the Alpine view is toward the street. I like the idea of looking outside from the bathroom or, for example, while using the stairs. When we built, this suggestion also came up and influenced us to rotate the stairs. Whether that makes sense here and what consequences it would have would have to be considered individually. When entering our bathroom, we also have a direct view of a small lake and the vineyards, and sometimes additionally the rising sun. In this respect, I would consider an Alpine view from the bathroom (or also the stairs) to be better than just from a single room. But in the floor plan in question, the bathroom is on the other (wrong) side, isn’t it?

That, in turn, would be rather secondary for me if I could see the Alps for it. I believe you would miss something like that if it were somehow possible to arrange it. THAT, for example, dear , would be something I would want to have (my opinion!) — the view of the Alps when I am once again aimlessly wandering through my house. People don’t usually deliberately sit down on their sofa and watch the Alps for two hours, but having them in view from time to time during the day would be something lovely. That was the background of my opinion: it’s not necessarily important through which technical type of window I look outside, but what I see outside. Go for Alpine view!

Why? The bathroom is facing the street = south.

Interesting solution. You always have such great ideas here. How does the staircase with the spiral work? I can only think of very straight staircases that are so boxed in.

Oh dear......I really had to take a moment twice before I finally got it straight in my head, for whatever reason. Of course, you are right.

The more I think about it, the more I come to the conclusion that a gable roof with a knee wall of 1.40m is unsuitable for you. You need space at the top and also want the view. Therefore, I question this house design. Why not prefer 2 full stories? There are also many design options so that it looks pleasing visually.

I once tried to depict that in my program and I didn’t find it visually very appealing to place a relatively small dormer so off-center on the roof.
What kind of costs can you expect for a dormer (shed roof or gable roof) of about 3 meters?

That’s true, but I imagine that would be difficult with insect protection, which is important to me. Lift-and-slide doors aren’t that great either.
Regardless, our plan was to take the combination: lift-and-slide door & swing door. Whether there will actually be a lift-and-slide door later, or fixed glazing and another swing door, will be decided later when actual offers are on the table.

:D I will!

On the one hand, we find “classic gable roof houses” appealing. On the other hand, this provides the opportunity to create less living area with more net floor space, which I think benefits us in the bedroom and in the children’s rooms. We both don’t like urban villas and that is no alternative for us. A shed roof doesn’t make sense because of the south orientation, if I understand correctly. Am I overlooking another option?
