No, but if someone has studied engineering, it is hardly possible for them to work as a lawyer or doctor in S-H. So you really have to consider the location of jobs and real estate prices when choosing a course of study :-p

Thank you, that was exactly my serious question….

No, but that wasn't the intention. It sounded as if there were only good jobs in Bavaria.

Lars 74 did not write that he works as an engineer, and you referred to that, didn't you?

Ok then, my question again: what do you work as in the place you moved to? I am an engineer and therefore I imagine a move with a job change to be difficult, and that seems to be the case for the OP as well.

I was still cycling through there on Thursday with a friend from Munich on a road bike. Forstrieder Park and then the east side of Lake Starnberg and then turned off through Wolfratshausen and back over the hills and villages. It’s simply outrageous, this area. Really brazen.

He bought a condo somewhere about 70 km from Munich last year and hopes that eventually the S-Bahn will be built there so he can sell it with a good profit. Until then, he’s living in his rental apartment in Munich. Especially after having experienced the area between Munich and the Alps by bike, we talked about renting/living/building/buying. It seems that completely different rules apply down there with you than in the rest of the republic.

If I had my circle of friends there in the area and could somehow manage to pay for it, I would do it. The “only risk” is that the marriage might break up due to tight financial circumstances. But if you agree with each other, you can always sell the house. I can’t think of any reason right now why the area should lose value in the next 10 years, or why a “forced sale” wouldn’t still bring capital into your pocket that exceeds your contribution?

If you should fail, you still lived 10 years in paradise.

Just delete the apps and subscriptions and switch them off. Always evaluate decisions only in the present. Looking back, you’re always wiser.

I find our house for OWL already really expensive, but for the Munich surrounding area, that doesn’t shock me either. I would do it too.

I would definitely say yes, especially if the social environment is still there. Are you outdoor people ? I ask because my brother-in-law also lives in Munich and ignores all outdoor sports opportunities both in summer and winter. He’s not opposed to beer gardens, but he doesn’t do anything else like sailing, SUP, kite surfing, cycling, mountain biking, skiing, hiking, and the thousand other things, which drives me almost crazy that he lets that lie. What I’m getting at: If you also use the area, then it’s worth it; it’s basically like the gym membership being included free of charge in the financing.
