So 25km commute is little for our area... Most commute the 50km to Munich and the real estate prices are still very high, so for most it seems that this is unfortunately an acceptable distance.

25km [Bab] are nothing. I would even go further out into the countryside with that knowledge and living in the village, as long as a good country road takes me to the city.

That would get really expensive with a company car and the 1% rule - depending on the model

There are electric cars after all - those cost almost nothing

With home office, the topic of commuting has basically become irrelevant for the vast majority of homeowners. In the future, no one will be driving to work more than once or twice a week.

Cars are actually overrated, but you can’t get anything decent for 10k. You really have to lay down about 25k. I don’t like old cars; something is constantly broken and useful technology is usually not on board...

I would never significantly restrict myself for a house. If I feel like going on a Caribbean cruise or taking a six-month sabbatical, then I want to do that. For example, we really enjoy eating out at expensive places, it gives US a lot. That costs about 500 euros a month. Likewise, wellness twice a year, which also costs a few thousand euros. No desire to work only for a house...

But in the end, everyone has to honestly assess for themselves what they spend their money on. You can’t take it with you.

The

Not "to each their own," but "as one must!"

That's probably the case almost everywhere if one has to commute. As mentioned above, this should not be decisive, except if one deliberately chooses an extraordinary commute.
