Those who can read are clearly at an advantage! Just read my FIRST! posts here regarding financing. However, I would like to apologize to you that my financial situation has changed within the last 4 years. In 2012, we refrained from purchasing the then offered plot of land due to lack of equity. So much for that..

Regards, Steffen

PS: sorry for hijacking the thread.. but I didn't start it

Mega thread! Content-wise, I don't really share Steffen's views here either (however, I am also an advocate of conservative financing and reasonable reserves of more than 2-3 months' salaries...), but the entertainment value is top.

I'm in too Payday's posts are not my thing, yet at the beginning he contributed a lot of truth about the average, what moves this average, in this post.
Still, I fully agree with you - after your above description, I don't see any golden faucets and... I think, even if one earns a bit more as a self-employed person, one has the right to bring their own capital into the economy, even without gilding or megalomania.
I'll line up for the PM with floor plans plus elevations, as well as kitchen photo :-*

Greetings

I also find the thread very amusing. I find Steffen’s statements about salaries particularly interesting.

I work in the same industry (IT, studied) in the same federal state and we probably even come from the same area. The property prices he propagates only exist in TH in 2 cities. I myself work in the public sector. An experienced employee sometimes goes home with 3k net, but that is rather the exception here. It looks no different in other large companies. I have professional contact with a number of IT companies and most are not paid better but work more. It is no coincidence that we have triple-digit numbers of applicants for a position with high entry requirements in the supposedly poorly paid public sector.

Somehow it reminds me of a swan... comparison on a higher level. Hardly anyone builds for one million in Thuringia because hardly anyone can afford it. If you look around, you practically only see Massahaus and Town & Country construction sites. And that in one of the most expensive areas in Thuringia...

But that must depend on the federal state and the local culture. I currently have various positions advertised for exactly your qualifications, the salary is better and the working hours are collectively agreed. Applicants come in single digits per week and none of them is even remotely suitable.
