This is completely unsuitable as a comparison, unless you study for 10! years to enter the job at 30. And even then, this salary in the TVÖD applies only for one year. After that, it rises rapidly.

The typical graduate entrant finishes at about 25 (Master) and is at level 4 by 31, probably with an advancement step to E14.

Tox, it is an official table. So it will serve some comparisons. Maybe not for you. It was only meant to show how much one can earn as a civil servant at 30. You have to take some kind of standard.

This discussion is theoretical anyway, because you don’t just get a permanent position in an authority and, voilà, you are a civil servant. This career path first has to be worked for.
By the way, you always start at level 1. To reach level 4, you have to have been there for years or have a qualification.
There are no big steps: it’s all regulated, very bureaucratic and slow in the TV-L (TVöD won’t be different). Some are still waiting to get even one group higher or into the one they deserve.
But I’m happy to get out of this discussion again, as I barged in

Regards

Completely irrelevant. In our system, you only have to manage the next step, whatever came before doesn't matter at all. I also don't have a high school diploma, but a technical college entrance qualification with great difficulty, yet I managed to get into vocational training. After that, no one cares about the school grade anymore. After the first job, no one cares about the training anymore, and so on. After becoming self-employed, no one cares about work certificates anymore, only about completed projects and possibly references. And when you want to start and where the money should be transferred.

The discussions here remind me of those in car forums around the year 2000, during the tuning craze. Back then, the lowered 75 HP Polo with M3 mirrors would also hit 210 on the highway.

Here it's about salaries, everyone is a few years older, but the quality of the discussions is the same.

By the way, I'm missing the introduction (division? deletion?), otherwise I slogged through the 14 pages until amused.

Here comes the belated 4th Advent gift: google 'focus neidrechner' and enter your net income there. The Neidrechner is definitely something great for one or the other here and THAT is exactly what you all needed!
