I recently read that there are tree species that lose their leaves during the dark season.
(scnr)
We’re now getting roller shutters for the ground floor as well. We had to remove the entire window trade from the contract for that...
I would find a patio roof with retractable slats cool too, but with prices starting at 20,000 EUR, the fun ends.

Really? Those that lose their leaves. Cut them out nicely. The air is different under trees and the house wall is immediately shaded. It takes several summers before they are big enough. No, seriously. The side of the house at my parents' place with the big walnut tree in front is darker inside, even in winter.

How do you shade with roller shutters? At the moment, they are closed about 50 cm on the sunny side. It doesn't need to be more than that. When the magnolia is big, maybe not at all. The windows on the other side are unshaded. Almost every room has windows on 2 sides of the house, and they never have to be closed at the same time.

Everything is a matter of cost and taste. Really great and beautiful solutions cost real money.
[Raffstores] are not for everyone.
[Roller shutters] are not for everyone.
Everyone may choose what they prefer. I personally prefer [roller shutters] because they are probably cheaper and one side can always be open. There is still only one sun shining on us. With a room that has only one window, it naturally becomes more difficult. [Raffstores] that withstand more wind are, I guess, significantly more expensive than [roller shutters].
The best would be button-operated mirrored windows from the outside that no longer let the sun's heat through but still let the light in...

I do not understand the idea that you have a second window in the room anyway, which does not need to be shaded, and that is why you use blinds. Why would I have two windows if one is darkened most of the year?

How much price difference is there roughly between a "standard" plastic roller shutter and a venetian blind that is reasonably stormproof? After all, I don’t want the venetian blind to have to be raised in the evening and at night just because there is some wind, and possibly lose my privacy protection and need additional privacy protection such as blackout curtains (more costs).
