I don't like the slats either. But in my opinion, there is no alternative, and that is exactly what this thread is about. The only option would be a horizontal sunshade ([Fassadenlamellen]). However, you have to like that visually, and it is not cheap either.

Facade slats already have a huge impact on the design of the house. The whole house must match accordingly.

Neighbors have shutters in a modern design. Not suitable. You can only control how closed the window is vertically. Visually great and fit really well, practically no.

Floor-to-ceiling and still look like loopholes. The shutters are just like the façade, and when they are closed, you can hardly see any difference. The house has a covered atrium in the middle. I think most of the light comes through there.
