I would and will not do without roller shutters anywhere. They don't add that much anyway. They also potentially increase the resale value.

Well, I doubt that 2-3 shutters (which are not necessary) increase the resale value. Definitely in bedrooms and living rooms. Or on the south and west side.

Nevertheless, it is true. Do those few shutters have that much savings potential?
We will ask our window maker for quotes. Then we'll know how much you really save and whether it is worth it.

[QUOTE="milkie, post: 64874, member: 15710"].....Is it worth it price-wise / in terms of living comfort to do without these roller shutters? Or rather, which ones are necessary?...[ /Quote] What exactly are you paying the architect for?

Best regards

Two more small tips from practical experience: - I would recommend a wireless remote control, not a pure timer that you have to constantly reprogram. It does not cost much more either.. - Make sure that the control electronics retain their settings after a power outage. Otherwise, you have to constantly reprogram them again. Unfortunately, we have neither (since the house was bought finished), and now I have to freshly program all 18 roller shutters individually every 14 days.

Our bedroom window faces north, as does the window in the guest room. Nevertheless, in summer, sunlight does come in there. Although the sun never shines directly to the north, it moves far enough to the east or west that it shines into the window.

I would not want to be without blinds in any room.

We recently faced the same dilemma; there is still a post about it somewhere here. Ultimately, we decided to install roller shutters in all bedrooms and the entire living-dining-kitchen area and to omit the roller shutters on the following windows because we found blackout and thermal insulation less important there:

Staircase 2x
Utility room
Guest WC (will get an opaque curtain)
Bathroom (will get an opaque curtain)
Attic double casement window (because north side) and gable window (because technically not possible)

Altogether, that adds up to 2000 euros, which I gladly invest elsewhere. If you add electric control (which we initially did without), you can actually save even more. The aspects of burglary protection and resale value were ultimately rated lower by us in this context.
