I actually prefer the open kitchen, and with the apparently welcome visits at your place, I would include the kitchen in one overall room. This could eliminate some doors or corners and make everything appear more spacious. 32 sqm for dining/living with your needs is not exactly generous, and then there are these two large doors to the dining room and living room, which additionally reduce usable space. Of course, it depends on your individual needs, but you should definitely check out these room sizes in show homes if you haven’t already. Maybe the bedroom could be moved upstairs and the wall to the current bedroom on the ground floor could be constructed as a lightweight wall or planned for later. I also like certain room dividers, whether half-height, with mobile furniture etc., and depending on use like home office, guest etc., the lower bedroom could be included in the "living" area given the limited living space; so it shouldn’t be planned categorically as a separate room, but rather as a flexibly usable space. An office area in the living room or a stylish sofa that functions as a guest bed etc., or a large sliding door. Just a thought, because I see the 32 sqm and kitchen planning in view of your number of occupants.

The room dimensions in the plan are correct. The table in the example is 300 x 100 cm, each couch is 260 x 90 cm in size.

From the example, you can see that you have to remove as many walls as possible to avoid bottlenecks.

The position of the terrace door must also be well planned because the room is not huge and you don’t want to have to maneuver around the furniture. I just moved the windows (only as an example).

It’s less about what is more modern, you just have to create space to walk.

In fact, many points have also crossed our minds, so now it's about working out the optimum.

Thanks for the good tips and efforts from both of you!

Yes, currently we also tend to leave out the walls/the sliding door towards the kitchen to make the whole thing more open/larger.
At least the advantages would outweigh the disadvantages here. We wanted to somehow create a compromise between the option to close the kitchen (and thus the chaos, smells, noise while cooking...) and openness to the kitchen when needed. But the sliding door takes up a lot of space.

We would like to plan the bedroom as a "fixed" room, but might consider making it a little smaller, meaning moving the living room wall...?

Thanks for the drawing!
We actually don’t need that many windows in the living room. The south side also has disadvantages in this regard, I believe!?

The table for 12 people doesn’t necessarily have to be positioned that way but could, in my opinion, also extend into the living room if needed, so turned 90°. But it’s nice to see that it would theoretically also work like that...

The kitchen is planned roughly like this in our minds as well, although we would prefer a slightly wider window variant.

Good that you even took into account/built in the door to the kitchen that way. We’re also racking our brains about what’s better. So should the door to the pantry be "in the kitchen" or rather in the hallway so that shopping can also be loaded directly from the hallway?

We would want to implement the door to the living room from the hallway as a sliding door. In the original drawing, it was still the "old version."

Thanks!

In my opinion overrated, since the kitchen is not a "dirty room" but in our case, for example, is more or less also used as a living space, even when guests are around. For years I had exactly such sliding doors for this reason and they were always open.....a waste of money that I could have spent better elsewhere.

I absolutely agree with and here again the issue of generosity would be my priority. If you have large glass surfaces, it looks like you are living outdoors and seems significantly more spacious. You have to shade anyway, even if the surfaces are small. Often a smaller, unshaded window area is already enough to create several degrees more in the living area. Therefore – more window surfaces definitely in my opinion.

We were faced with a similar situation, passage 140 cm, and then decided here on a room-high, two-part glass hinged door with movable parts in both directions. That could be rather difficult to implement with the current floor plan – generally, however, I don’t find sliding doors particularly comfortable, because a hinged door is easier/more convenient to open.

I have placed the house on the site plan. The dormer for the bathroom is built by Gussek Haus so often that they will already know how to do it – otherwise I would have put a question mark there. I haven’t developed any enthusiasm for the embankment yet. After all, it is about 1.15 m high.

But an evaluation of the floor plan without realistic furniture is complete nonsense to me. Take the bedroom and arrange it the way you want.
