Thank you for the contribution!
That is exactly our hope or rather the opinion so far, that the advantage of having a clear view into the garden at that spot should prevail.
We will see how it ultimately turns out. With regard to the current planning, I also hope that with sufficiently large windows some west sun still reaches the living room.

The sun also moves from south to west; it is of course only in the far west at sunset. Depending on the window size and room depth, your room is still bright, due to rather diffuse light. I would recommend that you specifically ask your architect how he assesses the lighting. Personally, I believe that your room is not so deep that dark corners will form with almost floor-to-ceiling south and east window fronts.

In the end, it is simply a matter of personal priorities.
Would you rather have cheerful, direct sunshine in the house in the evening, or rather a view of the garden lit by the sunset, to watch the birds? Your "wall" at the eastern end of the property is also planted and the trees are tall enough to offer a great play of colors.

Dear people,
I would like to ask you about experiences and recommendations regarding a roof window in the stairwell. According to the current planning, we have planned a roof window above the stairs, but we are not yet finally sure whether this is really useful.

1. On the north side, not much light will come in anyway due to the relatively small window
2. Unfortunately, it is difficult to reach above the stairs for regular maintenance

Should the window possibly be omitted?
Experiences and opinions?

Thank you very much in advance!

We already had the discussion in I think from about page 24 or 30, by the way with a house design derived from a Gussek house model. By the way, north is the side with the largest share of indirect light, which is more diffuse (i.e. has less sharp shadows) - when lighting a staircase, this is anything but a disadvantage.

That's true. A distinction is made between light incidence and sunlight incidence. The former also occurs in the north or through small windows and always achieves something positive, as it provides some illumination.

P.s. You have a lantern in front of the bedroom window. Nothing is worse... even with shutters. You actually have to use them all the time.
