Depends on what you count. Rooms with furnishings and 100 little things add up.

Children get a little more expensive every year. Apart from food, hygiene products and clothing (more expensive for girls! especially underwear) there are many other costs. By elementary school at the latest, club fees and hobbies are added, by 5th grade at the latest the first bigger special wishes. Holiday camps, pocket money, cinema and the like, as well as invitations to birthdays, class trips, school events such as spring and/or summer festivals (Kiga or school). There comes a day when it absolutely has to be a Nike. Costs from €120 upwards. Or the particularly ripped jeans, bag, jacket........ Male teenagers’ stomachs are basically empty! They usually appear in packs. The fridge as well as the popular nut nougat cream are regularly “eaten empty.” Female teenagers avoid eating too much, but constantly need various hygiene products and make-up as well as visits to the hairdresser. It is reasonable to expect €500 for the first years. Later you can well count on €300 more. If the bus ride then has to be paid for by themselves starting in grade 11, additional costs arise. I also forgot the costs for school books, which depending on income can be borrowed but with a rental fee and strict conditions with possible reimbursement of the entire book costs. Driver’s license, vacation.......

From a certain age, the brats have to work for their luxury themselves - that’s how I was raised, and that’s how I will pass it on.

We are slowly noticing that children are becoming more expensive... unfortunately. At carnival, our son absolutely wanted to go as Olaf - we thought a little together about whether there are good costumes under 50 € and ended up with a traffic light. Moving box, tracing paper and a flashlight - the child was delighted

: We'll talk again when your kids have to cram for secondary school. I also worked on the side, but that was a long, long time ago.
