OMG, no one really does this anymore in a new building. It has something from the 60s!

Half of Sweden opens the doors outward. I often find this more sensible as well. Whether one "does it like that" may be a reason, but hopefully not the most important one, for or against something.

Well, it's not that bad. In my parents' house (built '89), the windows also open outwards. It has the decisive advantage that you can fully place the window guards, preferably with orchids at my parents' place.

hm. Interesting. Are there any disadvantages? You can't lower the external shading and have the windows open at the same time - but otherwise?

Huge is nice, isn’t it? I don’t like overcrowded cabinets and especially not confusing refrigerators. Of course, it also depends on lifestyle habits; we also like to have frozen vegetables, fish, fruit, and much more at home. For example, I had the Liebherr SbS with one full-size refrigerator and freezer each, even just for myself, and I thought it was great, plus very stylish, like a piece of furniture standing alone against the wall. Once, a consultant in an electronics store told me to try putting a frozen pizza into the freezer compartment of a 90cm SbS. She showed me, and I realized that these drawers were a joke (for me!); I also don’t like rummaging in piles of bags. So everyone should find their own standpoint on that.

I always find that the most helpful, namely 10cm per box; that’s how the boy learns best..... at least that’s what my sweetheart says.

- aha, so the door was successfully gotten rid of! If the kitchen were huge, it could then give space to other areas, so that would be a gain after all.

I don’t see it that strictly and would fully rely on my own habits. At the time, for example, I had the large SbS in the dining room and “had to” walk about 4-5m there each time. I don’t remember anyone being bothered by that; also here right now, the fridge is a bit apart because it should have a nice spot like a piece of furniture. As long as there is a counter, island, or worktop nearby, that is absolutely enough in my opinion. For example, I don’t like built-in refrigerators, only freestanding, visually attractive appliances.

I can understand that very well, since my family/friends live about 500km away and my wife’s folks live right here. My guests should feel comfortable, which is why I place value on an adequate guest room without having to keep a room empty exclusively for that purpose. That guest would then have their own room and could also use their own shower/toilet during the visit.

True, I just have visitors from Sweden and know this from all over Scandinavia; there it is more common for doors and windows to open outward. In general, the quality standard in house construction is different and the demands are lower. Here it would be rather unusual and would meet with resistance, because as a German you just don’t do it that way. Of course, it also has the disadvantage, for example, that I can forget about most shading options. In Scandinavia they solve this more in a rustic way. I wouldn’t have it installed like that in a house here either, because it doesn’t correspond to my habits, even though of course it would be possible.
