2 x 60 is already pretty huge. I would go with French Door for SBS – cooling on top, freezer below.
Huge is nice, isn’t it? I don’t like overcrowded cabinets and especially not confusing refrigerators. Of course, it also depends on lifestyle habits; we also like to have frozen vegetables, fish, fruit, and much more at home. For example, I had the Liebherr SbS with one full-size refrigerator and freezer each, even just for myself, and I thought it was great, plus very stylish, like a piece of furniture standing alone against the wall. Once, a consultant in an electronics store told me to try putting a frozen pizza into the freezer compartment of a 90cm SbS. She showed me, and I realized that these drawers were a joke (for me!); I also don’t like rummaging in piles of bags. So everyone should find their own standpoint on that.
We pondered again last night and I am trying to draw something open with my little boxes.
I always find that the most helpful, namely 10cm per box; that’s how the boy learns best..... at least that’s what my sweetheart says.
with the hated door – the kitchen would be huge then.
- aha, so the door was successfully gotten rid of! If the kitchen were huge, it could then give space to other areas, so that would be a gain after all.
Thanks, I hadn’t really seen it that strictly until now, but I’ll discuss it with my wife.
I don’t see it that strictly and would fully rely on my own habits. At the time, for example, I had the large SbS in the dining room and “had to” walk about 4-5m there each time. I don’t remember anyone being bothered by that; also here right now, the fridge is a bit apart because it should have a nice spot like a piece of furniture. As long as there is a counter, island, or worktop nearby, that is absolutely enough in my opinion. For example, I don’t like built-in refrigerators, only freestanding, visually attractive appliances.
We live 150km away from family. That’s too far to meet up in the afternoon, but close enough to visit regularly over the weekend. The child is currently < 1 year old and since then we have lacked a suitable guest room in our current apartment. Also, we will no longer live directly in the city and friends might stay overnight more often. Conclusion: We would rather not give that up.
I can understand that very well, since my family/friends live about 500km away and my wife’s folks live right here. My guests should feel comfortable, which is why I place value on an adequate guest room without having to keep a room empty exclusively for that purpose. That guest would then have their own room and could also use their own shower/toilet during the visit.
