I have never heard that argument before and don't understand it either. Why do you think the kitchen in the left part of the house would need to be designed differently? As far as I can tell, the rooms on the left and right side of the hallway are exactly the same size (except for the nook with the sofa)? Only the table would then have to be moved a bit towards the hallway passage. What are the cardinal directions and where is the terrace planned?

Clearly swap the couch and the kitchen, beautiful HS-wall and a nice large cooking/dishwashing island! Definitely no useless SBS but each a fridge and freezer integrated into the HS-wall! Saludos

It's quite simple. A square floor plan lowers the cost per sqm because fewer exterior walls are needed for the area. In times when everyone seems to focus on price per square meter, this building form becomes attractive to providers. With a smart rectangle, you can sometimes achieve more living quality in fewer square meters. This should then neutralize the absolute costs, while the price per square meter rises by a few hundred.

We love our SBS with ice crusher for Caipirinha. Therefore, it is also located by the terrace door in the entrance area. In the kitchen, there is still a built-in refrigerator.

First, you should fill out the questionnaire on the topic of floor plan discussion.
Furthermore, take a look at the parallel thread; it turned out better there.

I know the argument: it comes from the old days when people worked up a sweat in the kitchen because everything was still kneaded by hand, constantly canned, laundry was boiled, and people were working hard – back then, you would rather build a “cooler” room. Today, people actually enjoy preparing food independently at sunset and quickly mixing a drink from the terrace.

Who cleans that up? And when? You can train this: cook, and afterward it’s still nicely tidied up.

It has the worst spot: do you take out everything you need (for example, for dinner) one by one, put it down three meters away, and then do that ten times? Or do you have a trolley for that? Next to it or directly opposite, you need a shelf for the preparation zone. Also, this countless number of doors to the storage room, a total of three toward the kitchen, will be exhausting.

TV shelf: in front of a terrace door? It’s obvious that this is not sensible at all.

In the bathroom, I would swap the tub and washbasins.
And how many guests per year are we even talking about that the whole planning gets thrown overboard?

very well described, but almost every house looks like that, you can’t do anything with it. I recently told my brother I don’t need to go into a "town villa," they all look the same inside. You can’t make anything else out of a square block, same goes for the kitchen space.
