Is it possible to plan an eat-in kitchen with special requests in only 29 m²?

Hello,

I would like to reconsider my previous plans for the open-plan kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom and make use of the collective intelligence of the forum for this.

Over the past months / during the construction, my priorities have “slightly” shifted (prefer now to furnish something of higher quality immediately, not to take along existing furniture), so I need professional help especially for the kitchen/dining corner planning (this was already planned beforehand). On-site appointments at kitchen studios will probably follow as soon as possible. But perhaps I can already get the right inspirations here.

My desired equipment for the kitchen (designed just for me, max. for one additional person)
Sink + dishwasher (preferably the dishwasher at “half height”). The location of the sink is roughly fixed by the possibilities of the wastewater pipes.
An oven with pyrolysis, nothing special otherwise. The oven can be installed “below” (since there is probably only one installation space at “half height”). I do not need a microwave (not even one integrated into the oven).

The cooktop can be induction, possibly with a downdraft extractor (preferably from Berbel, I like these best in terms of cleaning and technology). It should not be too wide; are there any around 60 cm wide?

Alternatively, I am also considering a 2-burner gas cooktop combined with a Teppanyaki grill. I would actually prefer if this combination could be combined with a “recirculation hood” / downdraft extractor, is that possible? The gas for this could come from a bottle in the utility room.

My wishes for the cooktop are: knobs / controls at the front (instead of touch), easy to clean (for gas, probably only “Pitt Cooking” remains).

Refrigerator with one or two freezer drawers or an integrated mini-freezer compartment. Preferably, the refrigerator and dishwasher should be integrated into a wall-mounted unit.

I need about 60-80 cm of free workspace (for chopping etc.), plus about 40 cm for appliances (only a small espresso machine + grinder). All other “machines” should be kept in cabinets / drawers. The kitchen should not take up too much space overall, and should look as clean / elegant / floating as possible. (I really like the design of many Bulthaup B3 wall-mounted kitchens)

Directly adjacent to the kitchen, I want a comfortable bar/dining area mostly for just me, but suitable for up to 4 people (even if it gets a bit tight), preferably with a view towards the terrace / pool / south window.

It would be nice to have the option to expand the dining area for significantly more people (for when “gatherings” are possible again).

I am aware that the living area alone (whole apartment but without the terrace) is only 59 m². Are my wishes at all realistically achievable there?

I certainly cannot expect space for gatherings of 20 people. My idea would be to shift the living area together and place another table next to the existing dining corner to expand significantly.

What’s not available as suitable space-saving dining furniture can, by the way, be custom built ;-)
I am very open to suggestions that have a “Wow effect.” My creative streak just doesn’t allow for it.

There is no real planned budget for this. Everything has changed spontaneously so far anyway, so why not here?

Since it is an open-plan kitchen, here is also my (not final) wish list for the TV / living corner.

Comfortable but small corner sofa for 1-2 people. Should be suitable as a possible sleeping place.
Small coffee table (height adjustable) as multifunction table (eating, mini desk)
Possibly a small (approx. 35 cm diameter) side table.
The TV will be integrated into the wall (I intentionally left a suitably large opening). Therefore, I don’t need a lowboard etc. The entire technology including cables (except for the TV) will be invisibly stored.

If there is still some space left on the sofa side (rather unlikely), I could imagine a small (mini) wall-mounted sideboard. I like the design of the Interlübke Cube.

By the way, hints like “people do that before the floor plan planning and construction” come too late :p

Is the small room next to the kitchen the utility room or is it some kind of pantry? If you could add the room or a part of it to the kitchen, that would be practical.

If you want the kitchen not to take up too much space, you can simply design the entire left side wall as the kitchen. That would be a bit cramped and tight, but it would work. It’s nicer with a small island in front. Then the table would be facing the entrance/hallway and the sofa would go in the living room corner. I’d rather take a smaller sofa than a smaller kitchen. You don’t use the sofa that often and you don’t lose comfort with a smaller non-L-shaped sofa.

Teppanyaki is overrated. It often just sits in the cupboard. With a small kitchen, I would keep such extras mobile and store them in the cupboard. A downdraft extractor takes up space in the base cabinet and is certainly not a good idea in a smaller kitchen with limited storage space.

Where are the water and power connections?

I’m also thinking about how to better use the dead space in front of the room doors. I would probably put a (half-high) dry stone wall where the left door frame of the utility room is, so that the small piece of floor space would be counted as part of the open-plan area.

if has rightfully been laughed at sometime  I would like to post my planning so far (as mentioned: I am not creative) and respond to constructive suggestions from or continue to wait.

The small room is the HAR/utility room, where the smart home technology, the UV, and the washer-dryer will be installed. The wastewater connection can be seen in the utility room at the bottom left as a small square. I can lay electricity wherever I want (we’ll do that ourselves). Currently, 2x 3 sockets are planned in the partition wall to the utility room. The communal wall itself must not be chased; here I plan to route electricity inside the appliances or under the countertop and then have corresponding surface-mounted or built-in sockets. I expect to be able to run the dishwasher’s wastewater in front of the wall as well. For example, I would like the counter with only 2 delicate supports, fastened to the kitchen side with corresponding spacers (counter supports?).

In my current apartment, I don’t have an extractor hood at all. A "normal" wall hood is also out of the question. Since we have controlled residential ventilation, only recirculation is possible. I could imagine a canopy hood / slanted hood on the utility room wall (if necessary). But preferably a downdraft extractor, even if it takes up space in the base cabinets. I don’t need a 12-piece place setting mostly just for myself and also not 7 pots and pans ... Therefore, only limited storage space is necessary.

It may be unusual to build an entire semi-detached house and then want to use only such a small part yourself, but I believe there are enough small(er) single apartments/households that still managed to have a "stylish" kitchen (I even think sometimes under worse conditions).

So I am just trying to get the optimum out of the given conditions and would be grateful for support. Also gladly from , whose often creative contributions I do appreciate ;)

I would get rid of the counter and instead put up a dining table. That offers more space than for 2 people and you don’t always have to walk around the counter. The idea with the coffee machine is nice, but in practice definitely totally annoying if you also have to walk around the counter for that.
